The Hanging of Phil Leman

  • Warren Museum and Art Gallery 142 Dubbo Street Warren, NSW, 2824 Australia (map)

I have been asked to write a statement about my hobby of painting. I try to convey various topics in watercolour, acrylics and pastels, that show the wonders of our world and the relationships between that world and the Homosapiens that occupy it.

Like many other people, I enjoy the Abstract, Cubeism, Expressionism and Impressionism styles by the likes of van Gough, Vermeer, Munch, Monet, Matisse and Picasso.

Our local artist Jude Fleming has taught me many painting techniques and how to become captured by the exciting feeling one gets from translating the real world by palette, brush and canvas.

I hope that viewers of my work can feel some meaning and pleasure from my efforts. Time gets faster when you get old but i will certainly continue to write, draw and paint as long as I am able.

Regards, Phil
